Original 1949 Double Carded US Mint Set (2 of each business strike coin that was struck that year).
Only 5,000 of these were produced making this set quite rare. Survival rate with OGP is estimated at under 500 sets remaining
The set is missing two (2) coins, one of the 1949-D Quarters and one of the 1949-D Nickels are missing.
Every other coin that was struck in 1949 is there, and there are 2 excamples of each coin in these sets.
The 3 coin boards represent each mint, Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco.
Therefore there are:
– Two (2) 1949 Franklin Half Dollars from each mint (6 in all)
– Three (3) 1949 Quarters in Total – Two 1949-P Quarters and One (1) 1949-D Quarter (the other 1949-D Quarter is missing and the US Mint did not strike Quarters in San Francisco in 1949)
– Two (2) 1949 Roosevelt Dimes from each mint (6 in all)
– Two (2) 1949 Jefferson Nickels from each mint, one (1) of the 1949-D Nickels is missing
– Two (2) 1949 Lincoln Cents from each mint (6 in all)
The coin boards all have some wear and are fragile. One of the paper storage holes is punctured as can be seen and the overall condition is brittle.
Original gold outer envelope is in tatters but it appears to be the original envelope with the Stamp referencing no quarters struck in San Francisco in 1949
All the coins appear original with the typically seen toning the US Double Carded Mint Sets are known for producing on the coins due to the higher sulfur content, and all in all this is quite a nice set even though it is missing 2 coins.
