1923-S Standing Liberty Quarter PCGS AU Detail Cleaned Key Date

Beautiful and Rare 1923-S Standing Liberty Quarter just back from PCGS where it was graded PCGS AU Details, Cleaned. This is probably the 3rd toughest coin just behind the 1916 and 1918/7-S in the Standing Liberty Business Strike Series to locate.

Locating one in a Choice AU grade Range is exceptionally rare.

Nearly Mint State, with frosty white luster, I had this one at 50/50 as grading straight vs cleaned. This was submitted along with the 1921 and 1919-S and this was the one I thought had the highest chance of receiving the cleaned notation, but still I thouight it was 50/50 based on all past experience.

The cleaning is very light with a couple small areas of light hair lines. The coin has beautiful original luster and a very natural look. Those hair lines could have been from pocket or cabinet friction just as easily but they are the experts and I defer to them. I may crack and resubmit, but for now, it is being priced at AU50 money as I have this as an AU53 to AU55,  had it straight graded.
