1909-S Indian Head Cent PCGS G Detail Env Damage Lowest Series Mintage Key Date

Here we have one of the key dates to the Indian Head Business Strike Cent Series. This 1909-S Indian Head Cent sports the lowest mintage of the entire series, even lower than the 1877! This example is just back from PCGS where it was graded and confirmed genuine as PCGS G Details, Environmental Damage.

The “damage” is a bit of metal wear on the obverse field in front of the portrait (I believe). There is no verdigris or corrosion so it has to be the metal wear or chaffing in the field that PCGS picked up on. Otherwise, this coin has full and bold rims on both the obverse and reverse and a nice natural oak-brown color. Strong eye appeal and of course, the peace of mind the coin is genuine! So many raw coins have had added mint marks or are cast copies from the far east. No worries with authenticity here!
