1879-O Morgan Silver Dollar ANACS MS62 GREAT Toning, Luster Small White Soapbox

Tougher Date, 1879-O Morgan Silver Dollar with Great Toning and very strong luster in an older Small White ANACS Soapbox Slab graded ANACS MS62. Significant chatter on the cheek is what holds the grade to 62 . Without the chatter, the coin has the luster and strike and eye appeal for a near gem level grade but the chatter is definitely significant enough to warrant what is in my opinion, the correct conservative grade of MS62.

Grading always has been and always will be part art and part science. At the end of the day it really is subjective but there are guiudelines and definitions which are in place and used to hold the assigned grade to a standard. I am old school and very much prefer the more conservative and consistent grading from the 80s and early 90s when this coin was graded
