1878 Morgan Silver Dollar 8 Tail Feathers 8TF PCGS MS62 Frosty White VAM6
Frosty Lustrous and Popular First Year and First Variety Issued, 1878 Morgan Silver Dollar with 8 Tail Feathers just back from being graded PCGS MS62
Frosty coin, almost entirely white on the obverse and with hints of rustic toning on the reverse, this coin has very strong luster and a very sharp strike and also has a fair amount of bag marks or contact marks as you may expect for the grade assigned.
We have confirmed this to be VAM 6. All the pickup points and die markers line up most notably:
* Doubled Motto – Strong Doubling is visible on RIBU in PLURIBUS, particularly on the base of the P and R.
* Die crack through the base of the neck at the “V” at the bottom.Â
* Die crack extends from the V in the Neck of LIBERTY through the date and goes through the base of the 1, the bottom of the lower loop in the first 8, the bottom of the 7 and through the lower loop of the second 8 and is an exact match to the diagram shown in VAMWORLD
* Strong Doubling on Reverse on the olive branch leaves held by the agle’s talon, stars and legens lettering
* 2 small feathers added on eagle’s right wing (left facing), and 3 on the eagles left (right facing)
