1927-D Peace Silver Dollar ANA ANACS MS62 Sm White Slab Toning Powdery Luster

Scarcely seen much better date 1927-D Peace Silver Dollar housed in a scarce 1st generation Small White ANA / ANACS Holder MS62. Take note of the label on the reverse of this coin. Many will recognize it immediately, while others may not be familiar with it. This coin last came from a Teletrade Auction. Teletrade had a huge presence as one of the earlier online auction houses. They hit their peak in the early 2000s and eventually went under in 2013.

Finding semi key date Peace Dollars in mint state grades any top tier third party problem free slab is hard enough, but finding them in a 2nd generation ANA Slab qualifies as a unicorn

Semi Key Date coin with amazing surfaces. Fully original with powdery luster and subtle hints of off-white toning give this coin a very pleasing appearance.

Great strike, pretty much full and very few contact marks leavces one to opine what held this back from a higher grade. The most obvious answer lies in the time this coin was graded. As this generation slab only was produced in 1990 and 1991, we can look back at that era as one of the strictest times as far s grading went in numismatics history

Teletrade History:

Teletrade (Rare Coin & Currency Auctions)
The well-known American certified coin auction platform officially ceased independent operations in late 2013.
  • The Details: Parent company Spectrum Group International announced on July 18, 2013, that it was combining Teletrade and Spectrum Numismatics under its sister brand, Stack’s Bowers Galleries. Over the subsequent months, the Teletrade platform was phased out entirely, and its auction model was absorbed into Stack’s Bowers’ online platforms.
  • Rather than a standard bankruptcy closure, the parent company, Spectrum Group International, decided to dissolve the standalone website and absorb its online auction operations under a single, unified brand: Stack’s Bowers Galleries.
  • A quick overview of how the key timelines overlap:2005 to 2010: Ian Russell served as the President of Teletrade, Inc.. During his tenure, it was a massive automated phone and internet auction house for certified coins.
  • April 2010: Ian Russell stepped down from his role at Teletrade to co-found a competing weekly coin auction house, GreatCollections Coin Auctions, alongside his wife. July 2013: Following Russell’s departure, Teletrade experienced structural shifts and dropping user engagement. Spectrum Group pulled the plug on the Teletrade brand name and integrated the platform’s systems directly into the Stack’s Bowers Galleries business.Today, Ian Russell successfully operates GreatCollections, which many hobbyists consider the modern spiritual successor to the classic weekly Teletrade mode
